The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center is the only academic health center in the state.  It educates 2,300 students in its five schools, provides health care through its two hospitals (University Hospital and Colorado Psychiatric Hospital) and conducts cutting-edge health care research.  In addition to the health sciences center, the neighborhood is home to the V.A. Hospital and Rose Hospital.  Students and health care providers dominate the scene, but this neighborhoods proximity to Cherry Creek and Downtown is appealing to a wide range of apartment dwellers.  An eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, and shopping define the area, as well as several nearby parks.
